This episode was not what I was expecting AT ALL. I have been repeatedly watching the trailers religiously and the storyline was completely unexpected. Luke seemed like a sweet cutie Frankie would be lucky to be with (more like potential gone to hell), and it seemed from the trailers that more of the season would be them on the vacation, not just half of the first episode…
I was never one to ship Minky… but there’s something about Mini and Alo that’s utterly adorable. And I really really like her now.
RICH has a special place in my heart <3 Thank god Grace is still alive, was NOT expecting her to survive that. But seeing as with Gen 1 & 2, a character has died in the second to last episode of their generation, I’m not to eager to get to that episode.
I was REALLY not a fan of series 5, mostly because the story lines seemed a bit cliche and, in my opinion, the show and characters had gone quite off track from the beginning. Less unique and exaggerated and intruding. But I’m glad they’ve brought back that “unrealistic” side of Skins that has made it so emotionally unsettling and yet fulfilling in this series, however…
The only complaint I have is that I feel like the characters have changed almost SO much since last season that there hasn’t been any introduction into how they’ve developed whatsoever. The thing I love most about Skins is that it’s largest focus is character development, and they kind of just skipped over that entire transformation between series. How did Franky become so confident and outgoing and sure of her sexuality suddenly? What happened to Mini that suddenly makes her want to jump on Alo? And I feel like I never really knew Mattie, but I guess that’s part of his allure, and I love him. Sooo sexy, just saying.
About Franky… I guess she had no way of knowing that the Luke guy was a prick, I mean she didnt know about the drugs or anything. BUT who just suddenly breaks up with their boyfriend with “I’m bored”. Really, if he’s so boring why were you with him in the first place. She kind of needs to get her head on stright.
Overall, I think the writers of the show really try to challenge the audience, and they sure did with this episode. The story was a good introduction into the new series, I just hope they delve deeper into how the characters have made such shocking changes, specifically Franky.
